Before a new vehicle model goes into series production, the drive train must pass various tests. EVOMOTIV carries out this testing and tests the entire drive train in vehicle endurance tests for durability with regard to load and external influences.
Project Details
Initial situation:
Before a new vehicle model goes into series production in the automotive industry, various tests must be passed during the development of a drive train to ensure it is ready for series production. Component and overall drive train testing is used to develop and ensure that new vehicle models are ready for series production.
Project assignment:
As part of the overall drive train development, the new mechanical and electrical components are to be integrated into the vehicle and fully tested as an overall drive train. This includes, among other things, technical support for the vehicle structure, vehicle endurance testing, and the organization, implementation and evaluation of misuse and functional tests.
Implementation:
The drive train - consisting of the main transmission and, depending on the variant, the front axle transmission and cardan shaft - is tested in the vehicle. In order to uncover possible component weaknesses, the entire drive train is tested in various vehicle endurance tests for durability in terms of loads as well as temperature and weather influences. In parallel, misuse and functional tests are carried out to uncover software and hardware problems and to test the resilience in extreme driving situations.
Solution:
The measurements of the driving situations that occurred are evaluated together with the component findings, processed and, if there are any abnormalities, passed on to the hardware or software development department for processing depending on the cause. After the changes have been incorporated, the revised drive train design is tested again until it is ready for series production.
