To facilitate the development of new vehicle systems and the improvement of existing systems, EVOMOTIV a flexible and cost-effective plug-and-play data logger.
Project Details
Initial situation:
Vehicle data is recorded using data loggers to develop new vehicle systems and improve existing systems. Conventional, high-performance data logging systems are usually very expensive and require considerable installation effort. A simple, universally applicable system for data recording in the low frequency range is missing on the market.
Project assignment:
Development of a cost-effective, compact and flexible plug-and-play data logger. The system should be able to be connected to vehicles independently of the vehicle manufacturer without additional integration effort and record the desired vehicle data.
Implementation:
Extensive research was carried out on the subject of data logging. Based on this, a concept was developed, the hardware was selected and software was developed that was tailored to the system. The hardware was put into operation, the software was installed and the entire system was extensively tested.
Solution:
Based on a cost-effective Raspberry Pi, a plug-and-play capable, compact data logger was implemented. By using the standardized OBDII interface, it can be connected to various vehicles without additional integration effort. The system can be reproduced in a very short time and can be purchased inexpensively. This leads to increased flexibility in the application and purchase of the system.
