To create a unified and flexible overall system for the customer, EVOMOTIV developed a modular software platform that covers all functionalities of the radio.
Project Details
Initial situation:
In the field of automotive system development, it is of great importance to create flexible overall system solutions. Costs, installation variability and usability play a key role here. The installation, configuration and design of antennas in vehicles are becoming increasingly diverse.
Project assignment:
Development of a radio platform that can be used for all markets and all radio standards. Depending on the hardware variant, the system should support both analogue reception AM and FM, as well as the digital reception paths DAB and HD Radio.
Implementation:
To ensure variability, different hardware variants are offered. A daughter card is integrated into the head unit as a PCB and communicates via the asynchronous bus system SPI. The radio tuner module, called RTM, is controlled via the audio bus A2B and can be installed almost anywhere in the vehicle.
Solution:
As a solution, a modular, hardware-independent software platform was developed that provides all the functionality of a modern radio. The challenge was to generate a compact and uniform embedded software that serves as the basic software and only needs to be slightly adapted to the API interface depending on the customer's requirements.
