- Automated driving

The EVOMOTIV GmbH is developing a solution that enables the virtual testing of driver monitoring systems – faster, more cost-effectively, and in a scalable way. This helps manufacturers meet legal requirements and further advance innovation.
Project Details
Initial situation:
Driver monitoring cameras must not only function reliably to ensure safety systems such as drowsiness detection or distraction warnings – they are now also legally mandated. Compliance with these requirements is crucial for vehicle type approval and the safety of all road users.
However, current testing phases are expensive and difficult to scale, as they rely heavily on traditional vehicle testing. In an era of ever-shorter development cycles and increasing cost pressures, new approaches are needed to make testing and validation more efficient and to avoid recursive processes.
Project assignment:
EVOMOTIV develops a virtual test platform that efficiently, flexibly and cost-effectively secures driver monitoring systems – without real vehicles.
Implementation:
The method is based on synthetic datasets and an RGB-to-NIR transformation. Realistic scenarios can be combined with any virtual subjects and generated automatically. This allows virtual subject studies to be flexibly integrated into the validation process – at the push of a button, overnight.
Solution:
Our platform makes testing scalable, faster, and more cost-effective. Manufacturers can virtually test critical conditions such as fatigue or distraction under varying lighting conditions. This accelerates development, reduces costs, and helps ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
